URL https://wonderunit.com/storyboarder/
Description A digital storyboarding tool for making movies
Platform Downloaded from the internet for Mac, Windows and Linux
Cost + licensing Free, open source
Explanation Storyboarder is a digital tool which allows users to storyboard their movie ideas, animating and testing as they go. Six drawing tools are available, with boards, dialogue and action added quickly and easily. Storyboarder integrates with Photoshop, and assets can be exported to Premiere and other programs. Drawing skills are unnecessary, with a shot generator feature.
Assessment The digital aspect of Storyboarder shines with tedious redraws for edits a thing of the past (Roblyer & Doering, 2014). Students can try out many ideas without a heavy time commitment, showing their teacher and peers for feedback before moving to the next stage. Guides including characteriser and a story example provide students with a springboard for creating their own story. The complexities of a short film can be developed and tested before the expense and time is invested in production.
GENERATE SOLUTIONS TO CHALLENGES AND LEARNING AREA TASKS
Description A visual presentation platform used to create infographics, presentations, designs and posters
Platform Online platform for use on Mac or Windows
Cost + licensing Free for basic use. Classroom Pro plan allows for up to 25 users for USD$999.27 per year
Explanation Both students and teachers can use Piktochart to create a range of visuals to display their information. Using templates, and the available tools, users can change colours, icons, data and fonts to explore their ideas and create visual communications with a clean, modern look and feel.
Assessment Using a tool like Piktochart allows teachers to flip the classroom so students come to class prepared for the day. Students can independently investigate the capabilities of the platform, before using it to display their data or message using a range of media modes, as appropriate to the content (Daniela & Lytras, 2018). Tips and instruction windows support users when they get stuck, reducing the reliance on teachers for technical support. Student build their skills using the technology, and their design knowledge while using the templates and tools, while adding fun to the class (Santosh, 2013, July 29).
